In some cases, you will have the option to select “not applicable” because not every action item applies to every community. Please select this option where appropriate. Each response is worth a different number of points: Not Started = 0; In Progress = 1; Completed = 2; and Not Applicable = 0.

The Challenge offers three levels of certification – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Bronze-level certification is achieved when your community scores at least 20 points, Silver is achieved at 60 points, and Gold is achieved at 100 points.

Regardless of where your community is in its sustainability journey, you will find attainable actions that will create a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for your residents, visitors, and businesses. Communities of all sizes will find items in the following list that are actionable both with and without significant monetary investment.
